Don't Know Yet

As far as religion goes, I'm not sure how I feel. I believe in God and Jesus, I've been catechized. But I don't know if I believe as firmly in "religion" as I do in "spirituality". Spirituality seems to be a better word to describe how I feel. It seems less strict in terms of observing lent or [kind of] being biased toward other religions.
I can agree with ideas that other cultures have. For instance, some Native Americans believe in burning their dead, so that they can set the soul free from the body, and don't believe in mourning for the dead, but celebrating the life of the dead. I like that concept. In mythology, Ancient Egypt, Hinduism, etc., they believe in a lot of different gods and goddesses. And although I do only believe in one deity, it makes sense to me. Catholics have a lot of saints that sort of serve the same purpose as the gods and goddesses. In that way I think Catechism is similar to those other religions.
It's really amazing how similar all of the religions of the world actually are. A friend of mine wrote a book that centers around that idea, I haven't read it yet.
Art and religion seem to be intertwined as well. I don't know why, and I could be wrong. Maybe the reason for this is because the people who created the art were...enlightened? Inspired? by their spirituality.
In any case, I find this all extremely interesting and would like to know more.

Until next time, my dears
